Gundam ABSOLUTE ACT: Bandai's New Figure Line Debuts With Strike Freedom

Bandai Spirits has revealed ABSOLUTE ACT, a new Tamashii Nations action-figure brand, and its first release is a Strike Freedom Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. It stands about 18 cm, is a pre-painted plastic figure priced at 16,500 yen (tax included), and is scheduled for March 2027. The brand was teased on July 27, 2026, with full details following in August.

This is a finished, ready-to-display figure rather than a model kit you build. Below are the confirmed specs, the joint system behind it, and how the timing affects when to buy.

What is ABSOLUTE ACT?

ABSOLUTE ACT is a new Bandai Spirits (Tamashii Nations) line of pre-painted, fully articulated Gundam action figures built around dynamic posing. Bandai frames the concept with the tagline "Move as you wish," and the line's selling point is articulation rather than die-cast heft or self-assembly.

That places it apart from the two Gundam formats most overseas fans already know. Gunpla kits (including the recently revealed MGEX Mighty Strike Freedom) are model kits you assemble yourself. ABSOLUTE ACT arrives finished and painted, in the roughly 18 cm size class, with its whole design pointed at deep, expressive articulation.

Strike Freedom Gundam: specs and the ABSOLUTE ACTION SYSTEM

The debut figure is the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam, the same mobile suit collectors have chased across nearly every Bandai format. Here is what Bandai has confirmed for the ABSOLUTE ACT version.

The articulation is handled by what Bandai calls the ABSOLUTE ACTION SYSTEM. The confirmed joint features are:

• Waist swivel-and-slide mechanism
• Extending neck joint
• Pull-out shoulder joints
• Multi-directional ankle articulation
• Single-axis knee joint

Together those let the figure hold the low, wide action stances the Strike Freedom is known for without the joints being visible in a static display pose.

What it means for collectors

With a March 2027 release, this is an early reveal, not a shipping product. In practice, a painted-prototype reveal like this usually means pre-orders open several months ahead of the release window, so there is time to decide rather than rush.

A few things worth weighing before committing:

• Format overlap. The Strike Freedom already exists as Robot Spirits, METAL BUILD, and multiple Gunpla grades. ABSOLUTE ACT's pitch is articulation-first at a mid-range price, so it competes on poseability, not on scale or metal.
• First-in-line risk. As the debut of a brand-new system, real-world joint tightness and paint quality are unproven until reviews land. Waiting for the first hands-on impressions is reasonable.
• Price point. At 16,500 yen it sits below METAL BUILD but above a standard Robot Spirits release, aimed at collectors who want articulation without a kit build.

If ABSOLUTE ACT succeeds, expect more mobile suits to follow the Strike Freedom, the way Bandai expands every new line. For the wider 2026-2027 Gundam wave, see our looks at the GQuuuuuuX figures and Gunpla and the Universal Century SAGA2 Ichiban Kuji.
