Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2: September 30 Streaming Debut, Explained

Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 finally has a date. The isekai sequel begins early streaming on Japan's ABEMA service on September 30, 2026, ahead of its television broadcast on October 7, and HIDIVE will stream it overseas as it airs. It is the first new anime for the series in roughly four years.

Reincarnated as a Sword (Tensei shitara Ken deshita) is a fantasy series about a man who dies and wakes up not as a person but as a sentient magic sword, then teams up with a young beastkin girl named Fran who wields him. Below are the confirmed details for the second season, with sources.

When does Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 come out?

The season premieres in two steps. It streams first on ABEMA in Japan on September 30, 2026, then begins its regular TV broadcast on October 7, 2026 on Tokyo MX and other stations. HIDIVE holds the overseas streaming rights and screened Episode 1 early at Anime NYC 2026 on August 22, 2026.

If you are outside Japan, HIDIVE is the place to watch, the same platform that carried Season 1 in both subbed and dubbed forms.

Studio, staff, and cast

The core team is returning, which is the biggest reassurance for fans after the long gap. Studio C2C is back on animation, with Shinji Ishihira directing, Takahiro Nagano handling series composition, and Atsuki Saito as character designer.

The main voice cast reprises their roles as well. Ai Kakuma returns as Fran, and Shin-ichiro Miki again voices Teacher, the reincarnated sword whom Fran calls Shishou. Ami Koshimizu (Amanda), Rumi Ookubo (Nell), and Yuma Uchida (Jean du Vix) are also back.

For the music, FZMZ performs the opening theme "DREAM OF BUTTERFLY," while the band HANABIE. handles the ending, "Baribari Buddy."

What Season 2 covers

Season 1 followed Fran, a former slave and black-cat beastkin, as she and Teacher registered as adventurers and grew stronger together. The story comes from Yuu Tanaka's light novels, which Seven Seas Entertainment publishes in English, so readers who want to run ahead of the anime already have a path.

The season's promotional trailer points Fran and Teacher toward a floating island, framing the next stretch of their journey as a fresh adventure into unexplored territory. Studio and staff continuity means the tone and combat animation that defined the first season should carry straight over.

For collectors: where to start

Reincarnated as a Sword sits in the same lane as the isekai titles anchoring the fall season, but dedicated merchandise for it is thin, so the honest move is to browse adjacent shelves. Fans of Fran's adventures often collect from the broader fantasy and isekai figure pool rather than waiting on a rare series-specific release.
