January 2027 Anime Ichiban Kuji Calendar: 8 Kuji to Track

Eight ichiban kuji are confirmed for January 2027. Four of them continue series Akibato has already covered in depth — One Piece, Tokyo Ghoul, Death Note, and Bocchi the Rock! — and four are new to this blog, including a restocked Dragon Ball line and the first Natsume's Book of Friends and Goddess of Victory: NIKKE kuji we have tracked. An ichiban kuji (一番くじ) is a Japan-exclusive lottery where every ticket wins a prize, ranked from A down through a bonus Last One Prize for whoever draws the final ticket of the run. Here is every January 2027 release confirmed so far, with dates, prices, and what is in each prize tier.

January 2027 Ichiban Kuji at a Glance

1. Bocchi the Rock! VOLUME 5 — January 8

The fifth Bocchi the Rock! kuji puts the band in matching "jersey maid" outfits as 1/7 scale Gracemaster figures: Hitori Gotoh and Ikuyo Kita stand around 21cm as the A and D prizes, Nijika Ijichi takes the B prize, and Kikuri Hiroi is the roughly 22cm Last One Prize. We already broke down the full lineup, chase order, and what Gracemaster means as a figure format in a dedicated guide.

2. Natsume's Book of Friends: A Cozy Winter Moment — January 9

At ¥760 a play, this is the cheapest kuji on January's calendar and the first Natsume's Book of Friends release we have tracked. The official listing has not published a detailed prize lineup yet; past Natsume kuji have leaned on seasonal illustrations across acrylic stands, mugs, and plush-adjacent goods rather than scale figures, so expect a lifestyle-goods lineup rather than a figure-heavy one. We will update this calendar once Bandai Spirits reveals the A-prize.

3. hololive ~Fairy Tale Style~ — January 9

Four hololive talents — AZKi, Usada Pekora, Laplus Darkness, and Kazama Iroha — get original fairy-tale-themed costumes for this kuji. As with Natsume's Book of Friends, Bandai Spirits has confirmed the release date and price but not the full prize lineup as of this writing. If you picked up November 2026's hololive FLOW GLOW kuji, this is a different release with a new costume theme rather than a continuation of that lineup.

Compare it to the hololive FLOW GLOW kuji we covered in November →

4. One Piece IMPACT LOG — January 9

This is the biggest figure lineup of the month. Every A through D prize is built as a "Revible Moment" — a frozen, cinematic clash from the manga or anime rather than a standalone character pose. Luffy facing down a Charlos noble leads as the A prize, Portgas D. Ace's "Flame Emperor" form is the roughly 31cm B prize, Zoro and Usopp share the C prize, and Perona versus Usopp rounds out the D prize. The Last One Prize is a roughly 45cm "THE GIGANT NAME" logo display.

One Piece has an active collection at Akibato, so if Impact Log is the kuji you are chasing this month, that is also the fastest way to browse what else from the franchise we currently ship — see the One Piece collection.

5. DEATH NOTE 2 — January 16

The second Death Note kuji runs a full A-through-I lineup plus a Last One Prize and a Double Chance campaign, but Bandai Spirits has only revealed two prizes so far: a roughly 16cm Near figure (C prize) and a roughly 13cm Mello figure (D prize). The rest stayed marked "???" through the official previews we checked. We are tracking the reveals as they land.

6. Dragon Ball ASSEMBLE COLLECTION ~Boyhood Son Goku Arc~ — January 16 (restock)

This is not a new kuji — it is a reprint of the line that first sold out in August 2025, back at the same ¥900-per-play price. ASSEMBLE Collection figures are small, around 5 to 10cm, and sculpted with an upward gaze so a shelf of them reads like a group photo looking up at the viewer. The original run spanned A through H prizes (young Goku, the Fortune Teller Hag, Gohan, Master Roshi, Bulma, Krillin, Tien, Pilaf, Kami, and more, grouped two to four characters per tier) plus a set of acrylic stands spelling out "DRAGON BALL" and an oversized "THE GIGANT NAME" Last One Prize. A restock this fast usually means the first run cleared out before everyone who wanted one got a shot.

Dragon Ball also has an active collection at Akibato — worth a look if the Boyhood Son Goku arc is your era: browse the Dragon Ball collection.

7. Goddess of Victory: NIKKE CHAPTER9 — Late January

NIKKE's ninth ichiban kuji chapter is priced at ¥850 a play, but Bandai Spirits has only committed to "late January" for the release window and has not published a prize lineup yet. Each prior NIKKE chapter has built its own cast and theme from scratch, so there is no safe way to guess this one's lineup from past chapters — we will come back to this once figures are revealed.

8. Tokyo Ghoul — January 30

The first-ever Tokyo Ghoul ichiban kuji closes out the month with the series' first MASTERLISE figures: Kaneki Ken takes the A prize and Touka Kirishima the B prize, both at the premium MASTERLISE sculpt and articulation tier. The Last One Prize is an "Owl" MASTERLISE EXTRA figure, representing Rize's ghoul form. Prizes C through H were not yet revealed as of the official previews we checked.

Prize Tiers and Terms You Will See This Month

Two terms show up across January's lineup. MASTERLISE is Bandai Spirits' premium ichiban kuji figure tier, used on the Tokyo Ghoul kuji; it typically means finer sculpting and paint than a standard prize figure. Gracemaster is a different premium tier built for 1/7 scale figures, used on the Bocchi the Rock! kuji. Neither tier guarantees a specific size or articulation on its own — the details vary by release, so always check the individual prize description.

Which January 2027 Kuji Should You Chase?

By budget

Natsume's Book of Friends is the cheapest entry at ¥760 a play. DEATH NOTE 2 and NIKKE CHAPTER9 sit in the middle at ¥850. One Piece IMPACT LOG and Tokyo Ghoul are ¥790, and Dragon Ball ASSEMBLE Collection and hololive Fairy Tale Style are the most expensive at ¥890 to ¥900 a play.

By what you already collect

If you already have earlier Tokyo Ghoul or Death Note merchandise, both of January's kuji are first or second entries in those franchises, so there is no backlog to catch up on. If you missed the Dragon Ball ASSEMBLE Collection the first time around in 2025, the January 16 restock is a rare second chance at a line that already sold through once.

By timing risk

A restock selling out once already (Dragon Ball) and a first-ever franchise kuji with a built-in fanbase (Tokyo Ghoul) are the two releases most likely to go fast. Natsume's Book of Friends and NIKKE CHAPTER9, with lineups not yet revealed, are the safer picks to wait on until the full prize list is public.

How to Pull These From Outside Japan

Ichiban kuji are sold almost exclusively through Japanese convenience stores, bookstores, and hobby shops, which is the main obstacle for collectors outside Japan. We cover the proxy-buying and import logistics in a separate guide, including what to expect for shipping and customs on figures like these.
